I'll be a little bummed if this turns out to be the iPhone 5, especially with no resolution bump. I don't mean I'll be upset with slightly less ppi, but I would like to have a little more screen space instead of just a barely enlarged one.
I'll have to see what Apple has in store for iOS 5. If it's worth it I'll get another iPhone, if not maybe I'll check out the Pre 3.
As a developer, this will be pain in the ass!

Before posting it's always a good idea to read the article and a little bit of the thread, not just the headline. Had you done any research, something I expect of developers, you would know that the general consensus is that it will be a larger screen with the same resolution. Also, Apple is giving you quite an amazing product and App Store to sling your wares instead of complaining you should maybe just put a little more effort into your applications and thank Apple for the opportunity they're giving you and others.
I'll have to see what Apple has in store for iOS 5. If it's worth it I'll get another iPhone, if not maybe I'll check out the Pre 3.

Yeah, thanks Apple. Truth is, this "bug" would never have been "fixed" if the mainstream media didn't jump on this story. If I remember correctly, Jobs denied any problem (like he always does) just last week. Suddenly this becomes a problem when Al Franken (of all people) comes knocking on Apple's door. The whole situation has almost become a parody.
And also, where exactly is this "fix". Seems like Apple was much more responsive getting 4.0.2 released.

Apple did not have a version of OS X running in it's labs. Intel has had every version running on their chips since the early 1990s when they first entered into discussions about using Intel chips. Intel some of the best software programmers in the world, wrt making an OS work on Intel chips. Apple got the OS X port from Intel to speed up the process of introducing the chips.

This is the first I've heard the story put that way. I've many times heard it said that Apple has kept versions of the Mac OS running on different CPUs in their labs, especially since the switch to OS X. Do you have any evidence to back up your supposition?

I've got a couple iPods and a shuffle. They play music, and that's great, but I want something that gets MY information to me. When that happens, they've got me sold.
That's really funny.. I was just wishing my iPod (3G) could sync my email from outlook for reading on-the-go.

One thing I can not see in the pictures is a microUSB slot. It makes it seem unlikely that apple is going to try to follow that everyone else agreed apron. It is nice to be able to in a pinch use some one else charger. Oh and please do not use the adapter crap argument apple could include because that complete defeats the point of using the standard.

iTV is a definite. Whether or not it's available then, at the very least the final feature set will be specified. As part of that, Apple will probably announce all Macs are updated with 802.11n (already rumored to be the case for iMacs).
I would also rate the iPhone a very high probability. Apple is not stupid and they have to strike now while the iron is hot and the iPod is still at the top of its game. Music phones by SonyEricsson, LG, Samsung, Motorola, etc. may not have made a dent in iPod sales yet, but they are bound to once they improve the crappy media player software and increase capacity (and affordable 2 GB micro/mini SD flash cards are already available).
If Apple is able to deliver an iPhone by early I predict it will sweep aside all competitors (LG Chocolate, SonyEricsson Walkman phone, etc.), and also start taking large chunks of market share of "cool" fashionista-oriented phones like RAZR and Sidekick. Not because Apple is competing on features with the RAZR or Sidekick, but rather because it will become the new "cool" phone, and most people only own one phone, after all.

Do you believe that the perpetual delay of Microsoft's Vista OS is allowing Apple to temporarily grab up some of the markey share? I'm not saying that people who would otherwise purchase a Wintel machine are switching to Mac because Vista is not out, but rather that some percentage are waiting to buy their new Core2Duo machine (or other upgrade to their current box) until they can get an full release version of Vista preinstalled on it.
Just a conjecture, but I thought it was worth considering. I suppose we'll find out in the first two quarters of 2007 when Microsoft decides that they're ready to release that bad boy on the world . . .

It is simply another security layer and that in itself will deter some from giving it a try. I'm not a legal expert at all but I would think that since the Xbox can only connect with connect360 if you have access to both systems (xbox360 and the mac) then that should be evidence enough?

With the best will in the world, it may also be hard for them to accept your word for it in this matter without independent certified experts or a pre-existing writeup in their manual.

The better technology for the future is definitely Blu-Ray, however it may be trying to make it's way too early and that is working against it. Prices are just too high right now for Blu-Ray drives and discs and the PS3 is a gaming system that is just too pricey.
HD-DVD is much simpler and has a more recognizeable name and getting much cheaper which a lot of times is what the consumer market will favor. Right now it's still going to be another 2 years before people start looking away from DVD itself. How many people have a HDTV right now? When I say people I mean non-tech aficionados like us in these forums.
