to put numbers to your guess, I am guessing roughly even at an optimistic approach, 1000 applications from EB3-I from 2002 may have ported to eb2 or left the country and nothing more than. Why not we do these guys. just a IV sampling poll. Lets create a poll for IV members alone, for eb3-I alone. Lets give all the 12 months as option, and people can update. We can atleast know how many cases are waiting in eb3-I from IV alone for the year 2002. What say you guys? any one wants to take up the initiative? We can also Add an option additionally for 2003 cases and so forth as one option. Our goal is to find how many of us here in IV are waiting with 2002 PD for eb3-I.
Why did they waste 500 EB3I last year. What makes them approve EB3 at that slow rate. All the cases are at NSC for 10 years. Why the ##&( they are issuing 1 year EAD for EB3I. There is no FIFA or whatever it is. How can TSC approve all cases at such a fast rate and NSC sits on them till the processing time is crossed and wait for a SR .

Appended to the Minimum wage bill was SA187 which amends SA112 sponsored by John Kerry and consponsored by Sununu, Snowe, Landrieu and Lieberman.
Senate Amendment SA 187 seems to have passed with unanimous consent. This is what it apparently contains among a lot of other stuff... Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you read closely, it appears like the 290,000 immigrant visas would be true for years from now on and for years 2001-2005 (the diffrence between current limit and this section). If that's the case and if that becomes a law, there is possibility there will be no backlog after that for some time...short time probably. Please correct me if I am wrongly reading this section. But for me, it appears it applies retroactively and will add the diffrence (150k a year) between years 2001-2005. If my calculation and understanding is correct, once this act becomes a law, the first year there would be 290k + 600k from years 2001-2005 ......I am not sure if my understanding is correct. I am a strong supporter of IV , its cause and one of the state chapter leaders . And I also believe that IV's goal should be clear and focussed, but this is an issue that eats my heart.
What kind of justice it is, where people are rewarded for breaking laws and those who followed it are made to suffer.
We are here in the US not only for ourselves but also for the better life to our children. If we can't give them that then our living in this country is worthless.
I also think that this issue should be part of IV top agenda among other things. The folks in question are not illegal but our very own in EB category. They are the greatest victim of the system. When I look at my sufferings , it is less compared to what these people are going through. My green card may be delayed but most likely will not be denied. Whereas, their green card is as good as denied.
While I am writting this and putting myself in your shoes, I feel helpless and hopeless. If IVians won't help here then who would?

- Then we can easily filter out WIPRO, Infosys, Consulting company from misusing. For example Wipro will apply 5000 H1s and then send people when they eventually get a project, out of 5000, may be 1000 may show up in 6 months. So In this case 4000 H1s can get invalid. Indian companies find it sending people overseas is expensive business and would enjoy offshoring projects. If the govt makes this rule, consulting companues will be forced to start paying H1 folks from Day 1, no bench period, plus "Candidates need to show up in person immdlty in US". We kill 2 birds with 1 stone. 1, dummy H1s will not be applied, 2, if they approve H1s then they have to send engineers immdlty for which they may not be really ready, since they only anticipate projects and may not need so many H1s right away !...

Well I really think this is reasonable suggestion to factor Priority Date to determine eligibility for citizenship. It could be 5 or 10 years past your priority and only after approval of green card. Currently many people wait for 8 to 10 years for green card and another 5 years to be eligible for citizenship and some lucky ones get green card in 2 to 3 years and citizenship in another 5 years. System should somehow be balanced to have close to uniform wait times towards citizenship for all.
Valid point. what ever it is, if you live in this country as a legal immigrant or non-immigrant for 10 years and paid taxes continuously for 10 years, automatically it should lead to Citizenship.

Sumita- " whateverer it is , it gives me directions and I talk to it" (She was spending 4 hrs. driving each day with this TomTom ).

Vandana(in the other car) - "Yeah you can follow us".

There will be a few lucky ones indeed. Those who get I-485 cleared within 3 - 4 months. But retrogression will kick in ( as applications get approved ) and the PD of 2003,2004 etc will become valuable.
It happened in 1999-2000 when they made all the dates current for 3 months and after that it went back by 3 years.But good thing this time is that you can change the jobs after 6 months.

The FIFO policy applies (i know, i know, there are lots of exceptions) to applications in a particular category. In fact, for those who have PDs before the current cutoff, there is no FIFO. I know that you have been harping on this for a long time that eventually EB2 will be held back in favor of EB3, but there is no logical basis for this argument. Why isn't EB1 for the retrogressed countries backlogged? With your logic, there should be a time when EB1 is held back for EB2 and EB3 to catch up.
First of all you did not have to bring EB1 in the discussion. I do not understand where did you feel challenged so have to come up with biting tone. FIFO is category base... You are bringing nothing new. Kid waiting in India for his first flight to USA know that. You have to have a eye to see the big picture. If you analyze the whole design and take the perspective country based...
