With the Verizon iPhone coming out, us folks who live out in the middle-of-nowhere South Dakota will finally be able to get the Jesus phone.
Of course, despite all that AT&T claimed it would do, they've still yet to launch out here. I for one will be in Sioux Falls on the 10th to pick up my iPhone 4, who else will be there?

Hello all. I'm new on the forums but have been reading Mac Rumors for a while now.
I've decided to enter the avatar competition so here's my entry which is designed to look like a Mac Rumors iphone app icon. It uses the classic Apple logo but I also have one with the Mac Rumors logo if anyone wants to see that. ;)
Cheers

Use an older version of Handbrake and rip the DVDs to .avi format; the PS3 doesn't like H.264.

Practically speaking...
If they limit the number of iPods you can transfer the movies onto, how are they going to differentiate between an additional iPod and one you replaced for a newer one? What I mean is, if they would only allow for a transfer to 5 iPods, and let's say you have 5 and one breaks, or eventually you replace them all for newly released ones, how will they be able to differentiate that from an "additional 6th iPod"?
They entire scheme is flawed. Practically speaking.

Uh, maybe they'd do it the same way they enforce the "5 computers" rule? You would authorize your 5 iPods and if one breaks you would tell iTunes to forget about all iPods and then re-link your current 5 iPods to the system.
I think they SHOULD do this but it should be a high number like 15 or 20 iPods. A user would NEVER run into that limit but it would prevent someone from buying a movie and selling it to hundreds of people for a few bucks each and copying it onto their iPods.
A number like that would stop the big-time offenders without the average consumer ever noticing.
(Based on this theory, the current "5-computer" rule is a bit too tight. It really should be 10 computers.)
EDIT: I also thought of something Apple could steal from the Zune. The "iPod movie limit" COULD be limited to 5 iPods if thre was a "share" feature that worked like the Zune's wireless sharing. That is, it's encrypted to expire in 3 days. So, I could authorize 5 of my own iPods to always have the movie but I could ALSO choose to put it on my friend's iPod but his would only work for 3 days. Then, just like the Zune it would ask him if he wants to buy it.
This would be the equivilant of "loaning a DVD." It works out as free advertising in the end...SOME of those friends will end up buying the movie.
The key to making it work is to make this "sharing" feature an OPTIONAL addition to the way I copy my movies around from my own iPods. The experiation feature would only come into play when I copy films PAST my 5-iPod limit, so it would never affect me personally.

I hope one of these versions is CDMA. GSM would be more practical from a non-locked, carrier-agnostic perspective, but I'd find it hard to give up the EvDO.
Don't hold your breath, at least we haven't heard anything about CDMA

and if the girl isn't 18 yet, then it is rape
Not necessarily -- age of consent is often below 18; for example, it's 17 in Nebraska, so an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old getting it on is not statutory rape.
I am not a lawyer; this is not legal advice. No priveleged relationship exists between us.

Is the photo black & white or color?
'Cause if it's color, that's not such a bad deal.
Get it framed and everything for less than $500. out the door.

I think at your age it is your parent's responsibility to provide for you. That isn't arguable. What is arguable is how they will provide moral/ethical/behavioral guidance to you--and I don't think that trying to stop you from doing something that (a) you're already doing, (b) you're going to do as soon as you can, (c) you're going to do anyway, and (d) that can be done safely. You are your own person and can make your own actions, choices, and (perhaps) mistakes. I think any parent that at your age of 18 tries to tell you where you can or cannot go, at whose house you can or cannot sleep over, or what girl you can or cannot like/love/date/****, is overparenting.
Cut the umbilical cord and start making your own choices--your parents need to cope with your adulthood.

Definitely won't be doing GPU folding on this guy. The forcegpu ati_r800 flag does let it work and it goes fast, about 1:40 per 1% on p5733 but the fan throttles up past 50% on the card and it is pretty noticeable (sounds like a little vacuum). And it steals about 12% of the available cpu power. Plus it burns a lot of electricity. I'll do my oneunit and get back to cpu only. I'll let you know how that goes later.

The only meaningful way to save the red countries from depopulation is to eliminate access to birth control and abortions. Places have tried to boost birth rates, it hasn't succeeded.
I'm pretty sure I said "bolster the population," not "raise the birth rate." Making babies is only one way to increase the number of people in a certain area.

Chupa Chupa I'm with you and others that have agreed with you.
You people want to bitch about at&t so much you don't even know what you're bitching about. You signed a 2, two, dos, zwei, hult, ǧūǧ, laba, שְׁנַ֫יִם, year contract..... No matter what language you say it in that number is TWO. AT&T has no obligation to let you upgrade early at any price. Stop whining and crying and throwing a fit and be a grown up and deal with the contract you signed. Don't like it pay the ETF and go else where.

Its a nice app, but way overrated.
I think so too. I find that Twitterrific is a more polished better looking app than Tweetie 2.0 - I have buyers remorse.

Utilitarian arguments against torture
There is a strong utilitarian argument against torture; namely, that there is simply no scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness.[96]
The lack of scientific basis for the effectiveness of torture as an interrogation techniques is summarized in a 2006 Intelligence Science Board report titled "EDUCING INFORMATION, Interrogation: Science and Art, Foundations for the Future".[97]
Those favoring torture have however pointed to some specific cases where torture has elicited true information.[98]

That last one hardly sounds empirical.
