Not quite. You said c&p the whole quote. I said only need to c&p the quote= part (the bit with square brackets and the poster's name inside). Each to their own. Maybe I shouldn't have said 'much faster', but it works for me.

No problems with my Magic Mouse.
Crazy question, but is it still slow after adjusting tracking to Fast in system preferences?
By no problem, do you mean that you feel no difference between 10.6 an 10.7?
Well the cursor is not as fast as in Windows, but it's managable.
What exactly do you mean by acceleration?
It means that the cursor movement is not linear to the mouse movement. Google it and you will see that it's a huge issue for people that want to game on their Macs, especially for Windows switchers that are not used to it. The worst part is that there is no setting in OS X to remove it.
Here are two images that illustrate it (from a 3rd party software that removes the acceleration)

In general, FileVault is useless, IMHO. You are better off using Disk Utility to create a password protected Disk Image and storing personal information there.
As for optimizing - I don't know if you can force it to optimize, but it should ask you again if you logout/shutdown.

1. Go to the nearest store and buy an external hard drive that you connect to your Macintosh. Then set up Time Machine to make backups to that hard drive. (To set it up: Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Time Machine). First, this will give you a backup of everything that is on your Macintosh which will save you lots of trouble should your Macintosh ever die. And second, it lets you transfer _everything_ on your Macintosh onto your new computer.
2. When you buy the new Mac, when you start it the first time, it will ask you whether you want to transfer data from another computer. At that point, you follow the instructions on the screen and tell it that you want to transfer data from a Time Machine backup. You plug in the external drive, and some time later the new computer contains absolutely everything that was on the old computer. Including music.
3. Never, ever rely on an iPod to hold your music. The first place your music belongs is the iTunes library on your computer. The next place is the backup disk. Always assume that music on your iPod is temporary and could disappear any time.
An easier thing to do would be to use Migration Assistance as per these instructions here. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4413) The cheapest way to do it would probably just to buy a firewire to firewire cable (cheap on Amazon) and then follow the instructions.

PS2, not PSP... and wouldnt a mini PS2 have the same size cds so that all the games that have been released to date are compatible. Although, with my experience, burnt media will usually not play in playstations, burnt cds are simply a no go, and burnt dvds are a toss up.
If you want to listen to MP3s CD or DVDs, just get a cheap dvd player, you can even get DivX DVD players, my friend got a no namer for $100 CDN... and I got a Yahama DivX DVD player for $200 CDN...
Actually, i have been able to play burnt audio cds in my ps2 (I think it is a v4). I was also able to install a media player onto my memeroy card so i can play cds with divx movies and mp3 files on my ps2, but not cds burnt with my PB. Nero created cds work fine.
*Note: what I did does not require a mod chip, but does require alot of patiece to get the cds write.

oh my god, superdirve and bluetooth?
who ever thought of that as a rumor for the upcoming powerbook:p
macworld had a thing on bluetooth being the future for the next generation macs and there must be dozens of posters here calling for a superdrive in a powerbook
these things probably all need to happen before we see either a dual G4 powerbook or, later on, a G5 powerbook
i don't want to wait til late-2003 or early-2004 to get bluetooth and superdrive as a new thing when the G5 powerbook most likely will be announced, if they even call the post-g4 laptop that

I have decided to make a thread because I have exhausted all my means of club searching, I have yet to get bad advice from MR, and lots of good clubs try to stay underground.
I love to dance. I try to dance 4 times a week, but usually I only get 3 nights per week. Wednesdays are always annoying because I can't ever find a club to go to and I have no class on Thursday, so I can sleep in.
So if anyone here is familiar with clubs in New York City, please help me out:
I'm gay - so a gay club is preferable, but I'd be more than willing to go to a straight club if they have good music. Mixed clubs are a lot of fun too. A place like webster hall, which isn't mixed at all would be a last resort.
I'm a poor student - free is preferable, but I'd be willing to pay up to $15, depending on how much I feel like dancing (which is usually quite a bit :p).
I want to dance, not lounge! So no lounges or bars, please!
I'm only 18, so 21+ clubs aren't possible. I don't have a fake ID, I don't drink.
I'm in Manhattan, and I'm not so keen about riding the subway from too far away back to my dorm at 3-5AM after I'm done dancing. So, a club in Manhattan would be nice, near Union Square would be awesome. I like to walk to/from clubs to warm up/cool down my legs. :)
It really is driving me nuts staying pent up in my dorm on Wednesday nights, when I'm in a dancing mood, so you have no idea how much I'll love you if you can find me a good place to go dancing on Wed. nights.
Thanks :),
_Emerson

Actually, it was 1998 (http://www.apple-history.com/?page=gallery&model=imac&performa=off&sort=date&order=ASC)
Even then, one could argue that Apple forfeited the right to all "i-products" when it didn't sue Compaq for the iPaq....
and there is no way they would be allowed to essentially copyright 1 26th of the alphabet.

Even if you look at some donation programs run by major business, 3% is still quite low. Some of them are so poorly run that they may only have 3% getting to the people that need it.
If you donate directly to the organizations involved (Red Cross etc) I can't imagine they'll be taking a cut...can they??

Then how will the articles be taken off of the list when the Guide is created and up to spec?
Linkety (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requested_articles) is an example but on a MUCH larger scale. Here's another good Linkety (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Applied_arts_and_sciences#Computer_science.2C_computing.2C_and_Internet) that is an example.

Just got htis yesterday :) Should be interesting to play - only had 10 minutes to try last night.
One thing that bothers me is that this game is rated for age as 3+ and one of the mentors is described as "Smart and Sexy" Am I being a bit too much of a prude here? I dunno.

no worries, glad to be of help govner,
depending on what your going to be using the G5 for mate, be very sceptical about getting caught up in the G5 upgrade current. The quicker 2.3 are not actually much quicker at all (cept the dual core models) and the 1.8ghz dualie runs great. I sometimes wish i handent sold mine. The 2.3ghz i have atm isnt that much quicker than the 1.8 i had before.
Vid cards make a massive diff in the G5 and with that 9800 pro you've got a great little card in your box. Just make sure you give it enough ram to function properly. I would recommend 2gig and upwards and as much as you can afford or scavenge.
I have 6gb in my 2.3 atm and it hoots.. esp if your going to be going with leopard. (which i recommend that you do )
that said, in regards to ram, try and grab all the same sticks. I have a mixed bag of nuts in mine and it does take longer to check the ram that it would with only 2 or 4 sticks in there. (cos i am a cheap skate, i even have several 256mb sticks in there, which are pretty useless :)
let us know how you get on and what sort of work your G5 will be doing..
