On a related note, free riders may not be checking this forum. The title says that this is of no interest to them.
I agree, titles like "H4 to H1", "Changing Employers", "Urgent question" etc. etc. will obviously be visited more.
May be a gentle reminder about contributions in other topics would help.
How sad it is that we don't get support from our own.

Thanks Andy for something authentic. What is VCO advisory? Does this advisory reset dates in VB?
VCO is the office within DOS.....and yes it can supercede a VB (as it says)

Wendall,
I guess next time you can ask "Will I hear from you in 60 days?", then you might know if you are closer.

One of the items in the agenda for the April 4th and 5th, 2011: Advocacy days in Washington DC is "-Allowing people to file I-485 and get EAD even when their priority date is not current." but the deadline for voting on this is April 30th, 2011.
Am I reading incorrectly?
The April 30th deadline is to get enough numbers for the public action items to be carried out in which thousands will participate in contacting USCIS and other related departments.
This public action item needs in the range of 10-20,000 participants to succeed.
We are also campaigning for this on April 4th -5th with meetings involving a couple of hundred people with offices in DC.

To all EB3 members whose PD is current:
Monday is the last day. If you don't get your GC approved, you got to wait for at least 7/8 months before they start moving dates forward. Beginning of each fiscal year, the dates are generally very conservative.
And for ROW EB3, if the bill passes to eliminate country quota, you will be getting your GC in not less than 5 years from now which you could have get it if your f**ing attorney/company would have file it 7 days earlier! Big time screwed! I am one of them!
The good thing is eliminating the country quota is always lumped with doubling the total quota and/or recapturing previous years waste, so hopefully the affect evens itself out.. Eliminating the coutry qouta by itself is a disaster.

Another thing that I do:
Take printouts of http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=36
the flyer is a word file and print several copies and keep it in your car. When you go for shopping, groceries, temples, etc... keep them in your hand and if you see someone like you .. (South Asian, Asian...) there is a chance they maybe retrogressed.
Give them the flyer.
Sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised to meet other fellow IV member and will make new friends.
Try this. It worked for me.

i guess there may never be time to write the multitude of stories so here's a little one...
i arrived saturday morning and went through a comedy of errors before reaching the comfort inn that many of us were to stay...was hungry and tired and wondering where everyone was...and then nixstor turns up with the very best home cooked food possible....aman arrived too and after a mad scramble to arrange plates we all consumed it like we had never eaten before...memories of that meal are making me hungry again...:D
hey nixstor...thanks (for that and a lot more)...convey that to your wife please...since she did the hard work!

Being a citizen allows you to sponsor a green card for your parents. I would say that is a pretty big perk if you have aging parents whom you would like to take care of as most of us here do.

can you please tell me the source of these stats? Per the DOL stats, from March 2005 to March 2007 only 130K total cases were approved:
http://www.shusterman.com/pdf/permstats407.pdf
Your stats are almost twice that number!
This is from Oh law, and these are number of applications (applied)

I am in. If I choose 5K now, can i later "upgrade" to half marathon?
Yes Needhelp, just like EB3 to EB2 you can port from 5K to Half or Full Marathon but as Santb1975 said, only if the marathon and full marathon have not reached registration max of 18,000. They estimate this max will be reached by August this year.
I will get the Team IV Membership Form to you this evening!!

Day one to day last of the month
The PDs in the visa bulletin are valid until the next visa bulletin is released or until the end of that month?
I think they are valid from 1 day of a month to the last day of the month but I hear people say that they are valid only until the next month's bulletin is released.
Any inputs here?
Sorry for posting an unrelated question here, I am still figuring out how to create a new thread.

I think we can print the letter and sign it and send it. We can have a poll here just to track the numbers. Once we are ready with the letter then we can ask the users from and murthy PERM forum members to help us in increasing the numbers.

GC wait is a slow poison. everytime you compromise on the career front you console yourself saying it is a small thing, but when you look at it in hindsight you can see how this process chokes your career slowly. well we should think about those less fortunate than us and move on.....
I thought i was the oldest, but someone got a GC this week after 16 yrs wait. my first attempt was in 1998 sept (never filed and sat in the lawyers office for 6 months) while i was working hard. Second went into NY DOL (2001) and after 4 yrs my company shut down - labor was in backlog center. Last attempt started in 2005. Aug 11th it will be 15 yrs. Not sure what i am doing here or why i am clinging on to this. Hanging in the same field, no growth and no enthu. Most of my friends put up their citizenship oath taking pics in facebook or are back in india
we waited so long, hang in there for a few more days. hope all will be fine.

Hi, I did that today. A personalized letter along with copies of the Interim Bulletin and te USCIS press release on July 2.
Next, I want to write to other senators who are friendly to skilled immigrants (Cantwell, Cornyn etc). Has someone compiled a list of them?
That is awesome, thanks. That is going to work.

We appreciate all the one time contributions also, we are counting all the recurring contributing members. Right now we need 885 more.
I gurantee monthly contributions. But, sorry, don't trust the automated & recurring transfers. I can sense there maybe other people with the same thought.
Instead of a target number of recurring contributors, can you publish target monthly contributions (e.g. $XK target for Jan & $YK target for Feb and so on). It will be easier for us to gauge the shortage.
Any insight into the distribution of spend (bet. lobbyists, admin etc) would be very useful too.
