Anyone got their AP renewal approved? How long it is taking these days?
I applied for EAD and AP renewals concurrently on May 28th and sent following support docs for AP.
1. 2 photos.
2. old AP copy
3. I-485 copy
4. Passport biometric pages
5. EAD copy
FP appnt on June 23rd.
AP Approved e-mail on June 23rd.
My wife's Receipt was just 10 nos difference but she hasn't got it yet.

Firstly I am not from India where most of your guys come from. Instead from Taiwan 2 and half year ago. As travelled much between Asia countrys, no much time staying is US office although I based here. Yes, my English is poor and broken but this is not a fake story, make no sense for me. Just kill the time???
When cops knock out your room, handcuff your hands on the back, force you stay down at the corner , if you could keep calm and state very clearly. I can only show my respect but unfortunately I did not make it. This is my first time. :( Should be the last time either.
Now the negative point is mostly from my statement, no matter whether you believe, the attorney told me drag with anger is battery. we think that's okay does not mean it is okay on the law. So I wish you guys be careful on this kind of play around to avoid any trouble. I knew you all have better english than me. so you could explain clearly :) But Same level, do it on your spouse is even worse on a stranger.
I create this thread just wish listen your opinion and try public view how much chance I can win the jury trail. Some of your advice is really helpful and I will take them.
My wife is writing the mail to DA and wish it helpful to my case. I will have several rehearsal with my attorney in coming weeks. Anyway, we will fight for the justice and not accept that ridiculous battery charge.

No need to upset. This is a different type of question. I googled and researched on it for hours, how to suggest you. In fact I did not know several words and acronyms used here.
This is a situation because of cross-cultural differences, ignorence of law of land, weaker knowledge of English, etc. It might not have been aggrivated, had you been in your native country.
Once in Japan, I crossed rails to go to next platform and caught by police for doing so. I explained them my childhood, when every day I used to do so in small town and it was OK there. Police told me that they understand me, and asked me not to repeat again there.
My son asked for Samurai. On airport, the moment police saw it, they snatched it from me. They kept it under their possession and handed over to airlines to give me back at destination.
I feel that police and people are considerate to situation.
So, based on my experience of sevaral such things happening due to ignorance and past habits:
.... Use translater and explain in native language (You can say that you know technical language to work in office, but don't know day-to-day language. You don't know difference between drag, pull, take along, etc).
.... If you have any cultural example, explaining up to what level it is acceptable in your society.
You must understand that under law of land, the way happening has been explained to police is serious offence. So work around explanation based on language gap, cultural gap, traditions gaps, etc. to minimize its impact. Show your preparedness to accept bridging of gaps to meet the law of land.

Applied for EAD extension on July 08-2008 (expiring on Sep 30-08), less than 90 days. Got a 2 year extension in Mail Aug-14-2008 (Approval date Aug 07-2008).

First the degree should be related.

A correspondence Masters from an ACCREDITED university is legit. As I said earlier, if a degree from a Accredited University is invalid than your degree is also invalid. There are tonns of legit US universities offering Online courses --- some examples are University of South Dakota, University of Massachusetts, Northeastern University etc.
I challenge you --- say in a public forum that degree earned through online courses from these universities are bogus . I will make sure to forward that link to these universities and you can spend more time defending a defamation law suit than anything else.
Looks like you are using online degree to support your case as well, that is why you are so pissed off. No matter how loud you shout or how many people you threaten about lawsuits and all that stuff, no one can deny the fact that an online degree does not have much of recognition.

This is not new, I was advised the same by my attorneys. I have heard "internet rumors" of people successfully filing EB-2 for job descriptions such as senior software engineer and senior systems analyst, which are normally classified as job zone 4. However, I was advised by two different law firms that this is not possible. According to both attorneys I consulted, you must get a job zone 5 classification to file EB-2. Note that "information technology manager" is job zone 5, so if you're in a senior position and supervising people (e.g., a manager or even a team lead), you may be able to obtain this classification.

....there would have been more than 2,000 in DC.........but clearly they did not.......i was willing to give it a shot - but unfortunately could not and did not want to specifically postpone something else to make it to DC.......

I agree with you on one thing though. Gandhis struggle was bigger than ours. Ours is nothing compared to it - You talk of no "background checks" in Gandhis time... when people used to be beaten on their head for marching peacefully. Many of them would bleed to death. Our struggle may be inspired by Gandhiji, but we will never be able to match the sacrifices made by othose martyrs. We may be inspired by Gandhis principles, but we can never be the Gandhi.
But the least we can do to respect that great man, is to follow some of his principles (like those stated above) in to our daily lives. Is that too much to ask?
Another take - if US can have an endless source of temporary workers coming in, paying into income tax and social security taxes and medicare taxes for a few years......and going back without claiming a single dime of social benefits......its the best possible situation for US....a forever young, qualified, minimum wages (i.e prevailing wages) earning tax paying transient population supporting/ subsidizing an archaic and otherwise struggling social security and healthcare system.

A guy fresh out of college is never equivalent a guy with several years of experience in the same field. Dollar value is dropping, Rupee is rising, salaries in India are rising. If people cannot get GC in a short period of time, there would very little incentive in coming and working here. As you must be aware most H1s these days are used to outsource work to India (by Infy and others), and not to get people to work permanently here. I suggest you read the Kauffman report thoroughly to understand the situation.

Can employee start working without SSN? My wife received H1 approval around Oct 2006 and we applied for SSN in Nov 2006. We received it by end of Feb 2007. From March 07 we got pay stubs.
People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status. Right?
Person can start working after applying for the SSN.

I think they had given a waiver till August 21 or so for the July fiasco filers.
Do you think I still not have to pay or should I pay the fee ?

My take on it is this : you have to PAY $340.
A lawyer will always say "DO AS PER INSTRUCTIONS".
But this case although unique, you still belonged to the pre-aug filers, even though there was a waiver (since u were applying based on PD which was for july month).
I remember that during that time USCIS has instructed everyone to add some kind of bright color sheet / paper on top of your application to state clearly that you belong to that group of pre-aug filing people and that you are filing using the old fee structure. that way you are clearly telling them "dont reject me directly because of incorrect fees".
Again although this seems very straightforward to me, that you HAVE TO pay $340, I still recommend you research more/talk to lawyer/USCIS.
